About This Role

This night shift position on the Geisinger Medical Laboratories team involves performing and reporting various analyses of multiple specimen sources to provide exceptional patient care. The role suits a Medical Laboratory Technician who is passionate about caring and innovation in a state-of-the-art laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report various analyses of multiple specimen sources
• Perform duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction
• Demonstrate proficiency and competency in obtaining accurate results by following established procedures
• Maintain an expected level of productivity
• Manage multiple work processes efficiently
• Complete tasks in a timely manner
• Handle specimens properly
• Confirm identification and specimen suitability
• Use appropriate accessioning procedures
• Recognize discrepancies on patient orders
• Resolve and report problems and solutions as appropriate
• Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control
• Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols
• Follow established reporting procedures, computerized, verbal, and manual as appropriate
• Record and report problems and solutions as appropriate
• Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality
• Assist in the training and orientation of new employees
• Participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field
• Successfully complete initial and subsequent competency exams

Requirements

• Associate degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
• Experience as a US Army 68K Medical Laboratory Specialist, 71E Clinical Laboratory Scientist, US Navy Medical Laboratory Technician, US Air Force Medical Laboratory Technician 4T0X1 and Biomedical Laboratory Officer (43TX) and related medical specialties will be considered
