About the role
Job Summary And Responsibilities As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will accurately analyze and report all tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely manner and according to laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Every Day You Will Perform These Essential Functions
- Perform and report waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens, adhering to standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits.
- Ensure major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures, including contacting vendors for assistance or repair.
- Perform required calibration and quality control procedures; maintain records to ensure tests are within established parameters; and complete assigned proficiency testing.
- Assist in the evaluation and generation of compliant documentation for the validation of new procedures and equipment.
- Participate in continuing education and/or teaching and training opportunities to enhance technical skills of students, trainees, coworkers, and self, while adhering to all regulatory requirements and maintaining professionalism.

- Complete all work and resolve or appropriately pass ongoing issues to incoming staff within the scheduled shift.
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies, including monitoring, ordering, and storing received supplies.
- Represent CommonSpirit Health with professionalism and HumanKindness in all communications with physicians, hospital staff, patients, coworkers, and the general public.
Required Job Requirements Bachelors Of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA, upon hire.
