The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure (KBML) provides a valuable service of protecting the public from unauthorized practitioners. The agency ensures that only qualified medical and osteopathic physicians are licensed and initiates disciplinary action when violations of the Medical Practice Act occur.

We are looking for a Medical Investigator to join our Investigative team and cover the South-Central portion of Kentucky. The ideal candidate may reside in the same area and work from their Home Office. As a Medical Investigator you will perform professional level work in the examination and investigation of complaints concerning potential violations of the medical practice act and supervise Board Orders.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Conduct investigations based on grievances filed with the Board

Maintain detailed findings and prepare report

Work with multiple state and federal agencies

Full understanding of the Board’s rules and regulations

Report to Executive Director

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail

Ability to interpret data from multiple sources

Knowledge of legal processes

Proficient in database research and information systems

Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting investigative findings

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Experience in investigations, regulatory compliance, or a related field

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of investigative experience in the fields of criminal justice/law enforcement or performing investigations of licensed or regulated health care practitioners or performing other medical standards compliance inspections/investigations.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office setting. Statewide travel is required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
