Medical Coder

About This Role

This remote position ensures the accuracy of medical coding and involves routine tasks for a quick learner. The role focuses on methodically and accurately handling medical coding while treating patients and staff with respect and "customer love."

Responsibilities

• Interact daily over the phone with patients and customers to answer questions or receive payments
• Code patient visits daily
• Assist team members with billing and insurance questions
• Bill patient visits weekly through an employee rotation pattern
• Interact daily by phone with insurance companies to resolve issues with payments
• File electronic insurance claims and appeals
• Respond to denials of claims

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills by phone or in person
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workers’ Compensation insurance billing guidelines
• Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
• Previous experience with claims, payment posting, denials, appeals, and coding
• Ability to work full days with no interruptions from a home office
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least two years coding experience required
• Constant periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Constant use of hands for typing
• At least 50% of the day requires speaking by phone

Important Details

• Schedule: 8 hours - Monday through Friday
• Locations: Remote - within 2 hours of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; must be located in Kentucky or Indiana
