Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

About This Role

The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist reviews, codes, and submits medical claims, and follows up on outstanding claims and denials. This role suits an experienced, detail-oriented, and motivated individual who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a busy specialty practice.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and submit medical claims accurately and efficiently
• Follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and accounts receivable
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, rejections, and underpayments
• Prepare insurance appeals, reconsiderations, and corrected claims
• Post insurance and patient payments and assist with daily reconciliation
• Review CPT, ICD-10, and modifier accuracy
• Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and providers regarding billing questions
• Maintain accurate billing records and follow payer guidelines

Requirements

• Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience required
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, medical terminology, and insurance billing
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance
• Familiarity with denial management, payment posting, and A/R follow-up
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
