Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

About This Role

Directly supporting efficient revenue cycle operations, the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist accurately codes, submits claims, and ensures compliance with all payer requirements. The role suits an experienced and detail-oriented specialist who can manage claim follow-up, denials, and appeals.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Review provider documentation to ensure coding accuracy and compliance
• Submit claims and manage claim follow-up, denials, and appeals
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits as needed
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations
• Collaborate with providers and administrative staff to resolve billing issues

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of medical billing and coding experience
• Certification preferred (CPC, CCS, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of outpatient coding and reimbursement guidelines
• Experience with EMR/EHR WAYSTAR, EPIC and billing software
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Self-starter and able to multitask
