Role Overview
Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests, maintains equipment, and troubleshoots issues. Evaluates results and quality control data, serving as a resource and educator for new staff and students. Assists in evaluating new test procedures and demonstrates knowledge of patient growth and development, tailoring care to age-specific needs.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrates technical proficiency in laboratory tasks, performs maintenance and quality control, identifies areas for improvement, and supports resource organization. Monitors training progress, recommends additional training, and helps maintain cleanliness and supply management. Plans and prioritizes tasks to ensure productive and independent work while maintaining positive performance under diverse conditions.
Qualifications & Skills
Entry-level candidates with an associate degree in a relevant science field and eligibility as a medical technologist are considered. Effective communication, ability to work under pressure, willingness to learn, creativity, and problem-solving skills are essential. Competencies include clear communication, confidentiality, crisis management, customer service, and experience with electronic health records. Preferred credentials include ASCP-MT or MLT certification. Educational requirement is an associate degree; bachelor’s preferred.
