As a Mechanical Product Development Engineer, you will spearhead the transformation of innovative concepts into high-performance manufacturing solutions. You will leverage your expertise in 3D modeling and GD&T to drive product manufacturability, ensuring that every design meets rigorous quality standards from initial prototype to final production launch.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine complex 3D part models and assembly designs to meet specific functional requirements.
- Engineer robust tooling and check fixtures that optimize manufacturing efficiency and repeatability.
- Execute precise tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure strict GD&T compliance across all product lines.
- Lead the end-to-end project launch process, coordinating cross-functional teams to meet critical deadlines.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying design enhancements that reduce costs and streamline production workflows.
- Manage technical documentation and ERP data integrity to support seamless manufacturing operations.
- Conduct thorough validation of first-article parts to ensure alignment with original design specifications.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or similar platforms.
- Deep understanding of metal stamping processes, sheet metal design, and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles.
- Strong grasp of GD&T standards and tolerance analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PLM systems like Autodesk Vault for data management.
- Proven track record of leading R&D initiatives or new product introductions.
- Hands-on experience supporting shop-floor manufacturing activities and process improvement methodologies.
