The Position: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support in managing pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements across designated project scopes within the HPC programme.

Acting as a technical focal point, you will work closely with project teams, regulators, supply chain partners, and international stakeholders to ensure compliance with nuclear industry standards and regulatory expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer will include:

  • Manage pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for designated HPC project scopes.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of pressure compliance processes, policies, and standards.
  • Ensure project activities meet regulatory, contractual, and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and compliance guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Act as a key interface between project managers, regulators, suppliers, and engineering teams.
  • Support technical decision-making and resolve pressure systems compliance issues.
  • Monitor supplier delivery and conformity assessment activities across the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain SQEP requirements and contribute to nuclear safety and compliance objectives.
  • Provide technical and compliance oversight for reactor and primary circuit equipment, including Main Coolant Pumps, valves and associated pressure equipment.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring quality is embedded across all stages of delivery, from design and procurement through to construction and commissioning, helping to deliver one of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects.

Profil recherché

Preferred Profile:

Alongside a commitment to our values, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following essential skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering/science discipline.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, or Petrochemical.
  • Strong knowledge of pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements.
  • Experience with pressure equipment designed and manufactured to RCC-M and/or ASME codes.
  • Understanding of pressure equipment manufacture, installation, conformity assessment, and safety requirements.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and matrix organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Chartered Engineer status (IMechE preferred) or working towards professional chartership.
  • Experience working with Main Coolant Pumps, Reactor Coolant Pumps, valves and associated pressure system
