Mechanical Engineer

About This Role

This Mechanical Engineer role involves researching, designing, analyzing, and developing innovative mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for the space domain. The position requires collaboration with integrated product teams and support for hardware through its entire engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, analyze, and develop innovative components, assemblies, and/or systems
• Assure sound technical rigor and timely delivery
• Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses, including 3D solid models and 2D drawings
• Interact with other engineers, adjacent functions, suppliers, and stakeholders to support products through the entire engineering lifecycle
• Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and test personnel to support the build and validation of hardware in a production environment
• Travel occasionally
• Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with commensurate years of professional experience
• Experience with solid model and drawing creation using 3D computer-aided design software, specification development, vendor interface, parts selection, and/or configuration control
• Understanding and ability to apply basic Mechanical Engineering principles, theories, and concepts
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment using good verbal and written communication skills
• US citizenship is required

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5
• Fundamental understanding of structures, mechanisms, and materials
• Prior experience with the design and/or test of mechanical systems
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
