Title : Mechanical Engineer 1
Location : Sanford, North Carolina
Details : 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role
Pay Rate : $28.00 – 30.25/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production operations, process improvements, and new product introduction activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on technical support for assembly processes, equipment, and tooling while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily technical support for assembly operations, including troubleshooting production, process, and equipment issues.
- Investigate root causes, implement corrective actions, and document solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and improve standard work and manufacturing processes.
- Support process, tooling, and equipment improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Balance workloads across production areas to support production targets.
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.
- Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing activities.
- Support new product introduction initiatives and manufacturing process changes.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Provide hands-on support on the production floor and assist with validation and documentation activities.
Years Of Experience And Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- 0-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Internship or co-op experience will be considered relevant experience.
Skills Required
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and assembly operations.
- Experience with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem solving.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with process documentation, standard work development, and continuous improvement.
- Understanding of time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Creo and AutoCAD preferred.
- Familiarity with automated equipment, test systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), or production controls preferred.
- Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
