Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer (Transformers) role based in Vadodara. The role involves designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for power transformers, ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications. The Mechanical Design Engineer prepares detailed CAD models and engineering drawings, performs mechanical calculations, and collaborates with cross-functional teams such as electrical design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain. Responsibilities include reviewing customer requirements, supporting bid and proposal activities with mechanical inputs, and providing technical support during production, testing, and installation. The role also includes continuous improvement of design practices, optimizing cost and manufacturability, and contributing to innovation in transformer technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with practical experience in transformer or heavy electrical equipment design.
- Proficiency in Design Engineering and Machine Design for complex mechanical systems and structures.
- Experience in Product Design for industrial equipment, focusing on reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
- Advanced skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and detailed engineering drawings.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Ability to interpret international standards and customer specifications related to transformers and power equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and quality.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), thermal and structural calculations, or similar engineering simulations is an advantage.
- Prior exposure to manufacturing processes, materials selection, and design-for-cost/design-for-assembly is beneficial.
