Requirements Description and Requirements General Description: Manages Employee Benefits insurance accounts and serves as their day-to-day contact.
Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Act as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers.
- Educate, advise and aid clients on all Compliance topics. Including, but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform.
- Set up new group insurance contracts for existing clients or new clients.
- Manage the renewal process including the preparation of appropriate contractual changes.
- Develop alternative strategies, plan modeling and cost reduction opportunities.
- Champion client cross-selling initiatives and develop customer accounts.
- Regular client contact and in-person attendance at client meetings as needed.
- Conduct on-site meetings to communicate or administer benefit plans.
- May be responsible for the marketing and placement of new benefit products.
- Prepare client application for review
- Determine most appropriate carriers
- Analyze and compare carrier quotes and coverage offerings
- Make recommendations to clients
- Process all policy changes, endorsements and other requests as needed.
- Resolution support and oversight for client issues such as contract clarifications and billing.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management systems.
- Special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- 2+ years experience in employee benefits industry or related marketplace. Brokerage environment and bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Accident & Health license is required or ability to obtain within three months from date of hire.
- Ability to creatively and proactively problem-solve.
- Ability to stay organized and focused in a busy environment.
- Personable and credible.
- Professional and dependable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
- Keep informed about industry information, technology and trends.
- Detailed understanding of all types of health and ancillary benefit plan designs and claim procedures.
- Basic understanding of full and partially insured.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills capable of using and interpreting benefit related facts and figures
