About the role

Duties

As a Mathematical Statistician you will:

  • Perform basic research on a variety of issues and problems, particularly those relating to imputation, multiple imputation, linking of data sets, variance estimation on linked or imputed data sets.
  • Serve as an expert on imputation, multiple imputation, linking of data sets, and variance estimation.
  • Represent the Division at meetings, seminars, and through publications.
  • Provide expert technical consultation and advice on measures for imputation, multiple imputation, linking of data sets, variance estimation on linked or imputed data sets.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

A. Applicants must have completed a full four-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 hours were in statistics.

OR

B. Applicants must have a combination of education and experience that included at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience performing research in statistical disclosure limitation and survey design and analysis of data from complex surveys.
