Math Curriculum Developer

About This Role

Expanding and refining the Beast Academy curriculum for motivated elementary school students is a core part of this role, which also involves creating courses, lessons, activities, games, and puzzles for in-person learning centers. This position aims to advance online course delivery by designing courses and tools for online and virtual campuses, and developing specialty courses for very advanced math students across various grade levels. It suits a candidate with a strong passion for mathematics and a desire to guide students in mathematical explorations.

Responsibilities

• Expand and refine the Beast Academy curriculum for motivated elementary school students who are willing to face hard problems
• Create courses, lessons, activities, games, and puzzles for delivery in the in-person AoPS Academy learning centers across the US
• Help advance the state of the art in online course delivery by designing courses and delivery tools in the AoPS Online School or the AoPS Academy Virtual Campus
• Develop or refine specialty courses for very advanced math students in a range of grade-levels

Requirements

• Passion for math built through teaching or doing mathematics, and eagerness to guide motivated students on mathematical explorations
• Strong mathematical foundations and enjoyment of solving puzzles
• Excitement about helping students grapple with and enrich their understanding of mathematical ideas through creating cognitively demanding math tasks
• Strong intuition and conviction about how to best inspire and train the great problem-solvers of the next generation, gained from classroom experience as a teacher or student
• Look forward to the challenge of writing and designing for teachers, designing curricular materials that will empower them to provide engaging and rigorous classroom experience
• Strong writing skills and a love for words
