About the role
A medical device manufacturing client is looking to hire a Materials Control Manager to lead and optimize all materials management activities at a regulated manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing purchasing, production planning, inventory management, supplier performance, and material flow across multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop personnel across the Materials organization, including Procurement, Production Planning, ERP administration, inventory operations, and stockroom functions.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve production planning, scheduling, and reporting processes.
- Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, maintenance supplies, and capital equipment to support manufacturing operations.
- Ensure timely execution of purchase orders, order changes, and supplier lead-time management to meet production requirements.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures, workflows, and best practices that improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall department performance.
- Review and execute production schedules in collaboration with Supply Chain to align demand with manufacturing capacity, labor availability, and material supply.
- Analyze demand forecasts and recommend schedule adjustments to optimize equipment utilization, staffing, inventory levels, and customer service.
- Provide accurate reporting related to budgets, forecasts, inventory performance, production status, and backorders.
- Partner with Quality to support the disposition of nonconforming materials and minimize production disruptions.
- Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers to improve quality, reduce costs, and strengthen supply continuity.
- Optimize raw material inventory to support production while minimizing excess inventory and working capital.
- Maintain materials management documentation to ensure compliance with applicable quality systems, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Establish departmental goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Lead workforce planning, employee development, performance management, coaching, and training for both salaried and hourly team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing Operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in production planning, inventory control, purchasing, and supplier management within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP or similar platforms preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or APICS certifications (CPIM or CSCP) are preferred.
- Experience supporting high-mix, multi-product manufacturing operations.
Salary of $155,000 annually + stock and bonuses
