About This Role
This role involves the movement of products to supply department needs, ensuring adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for quality and quantity. The Material Handler maintains a professional and team-oriented attitude while working in a production environment.
Responsibilities
- Stock and supply the proper raw materials (boxes, cartons, cores, roll stock, etc.) to the appropriate machines
- Determine raw material needs by reading job tickets
- Remove finished products to the designated area (shipping) using a hand jack
- Ensure work conducted within the production area is performed in a safe and efficient manner, addressing any unsafe work conditions immediately
- Ensure adherence to all quality control processes and procedures and actively support the company’s internal audit program
- Notify supervisor and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems
- Interact in a dynamic team environment with a positive attitude
- Operate powered industrial equipment
Requirements
- Ability to monitor processes, materials, and equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, demonstrating good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Participation and support of 5S initiatives and activities
- Active involvement in Phenix’s Company mission statement, core values, and non-negotiables
- High school diploma / GED / or equivalent
- Basic math and computer skills
Important Details
- Physical requirements: The employee must frequently stand, walk, talk, and occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required include ability to hear alarms and other sensors in a factory environment. Requires use of hands to handle, control or feel objects and operate tools and controls.
