Material Handler

About This Role

This Material Handler role is crucial for creating a top-of-the-line customer experience by organizing components for assembly teams and storing them consistently. The ideal candidate is driven to maintain assembly flow in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision, working closely with Production Supervisors and Schedulers.

Responsibilities

• Review Job Requirements, Sales orders, and verbal requests to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
• Unload and unpack incoming shipments
• Count, measure, or weigh articles to verify contents of shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or storage receipts
• Attach identification data onto articles
• Record factors causing goods to be returned
• Examine articles for defects and sort articles according to extent of defect
• Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
• Assign tagged material to appropriate bin locations
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly line
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or convey orders to packing station or shipping department
• Arrange stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers
• Prepare periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock
• Use computer to enter records and maintain computer-generated inventory records
• Participate in cycle count program
• Count parts and verify inventory on the cycle counts that are within the warehouse locations
• Drive vehicle to transport

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Knowledge of Database software, Inventory software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software
• On the Job Completion of Certification of forklift operator training in compliance with OSHA Regulation 29 CFR
