About the role
Position Overview
- Business Analyst supporting a large pharmaceutical client.
- Act as a business partner between business users and the Master Data Management (MDM) team.
- Support customer master data for commercial and medical business processes.
- Investigate data issues and provide root cause analysis.
- Work closely with business users, data stewards, and the MDM team.
- Work Eastern Time business hours (approximately 8 AM-4 PM or 9 AM-5 PM ET).
Responsibilities
- Serve as the business partner for MDM-related activities.
- Support customer master data management solutions.
- Answer business users' questions related to master data.
- Investigate customer data issues and anomalies.
- Perform root cause analysis.
- Identify resolution plans for data issues.
- Escalate ongoing or recurring data quality problems.
- Research data within the MDM solution.
- Understand how customer data flows across systems.
- Understand commercial and medical business processes.
- Communicate findings and resolutions to business stakeholders.
- Work independently while following established processes.
- Collaborate with data stewards and MDM teams.
- Use SQL to query databases when needed.
- Work with Microsoft Office tools for analysis and reporting.
- Support data governance and stewardship activities.

- Knowledge of data quality management.
Education
- Associate's degree minimum.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in progress is acceptable.
- Associate's degree with relevant experience is acceptable.
- Candidates without a degree are generally not preferred.
Experience
- Around 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of pharma experience is ideal.
- Experience in Business Analyst or Data Analyst roles.
- Experience in MDM, data governance, or data stewardship.
- Business operations experience preferred over project management.
- Hands-on experience is highly preferred.
- Not an entry-level role.
Interview Process
- 2 interview rounds.
- Round 1: Hiring Manager interview (experience, MDM, pharma knowledge, analytical & communication skills).
- Round 2: Team/Final interview (technical fit, business operations, stakeholder interaction, and cultural fit).

- Strong preference for pharmaceutical industry candidates.
- Business operations experience is more important than project management.
- No budget management responsibilities.
- No contract management responsibilities.
- No financial tracking responsibilities.

- Role is approximately:
- 50% analytics and research.
- 50% communication with business users.
- Functions like a highly skilled business-facing data support role.
- Requires understanding of how master data flows across multiple applications.
- Power BI and Tableau are not expected for this role.
- Project Managers are generally not preferred unless they have strong MDM and analytical experience.
