About This Role
Actively sourcing, verifying, and maintaining Port, Terminal, and Berth (PTB) data is the core of this role, supporting full-coverage, market-standard refresh cycles for Marcura's PTB and all other data products. The role suits a detail-oriented individual with experience in shipping or port operations.
Responsibilities
- Collect port, terminal, and berth (PTB) data, including restrictions, dimensions, navigation, and local regulations, from agent reports, published documents, port authority websites, and other open sources, to build and maintain a complete, accurate PTB dataset by proactively researching and cross-referencing multiple source types for each location
- Vet and validate incoming PTB data against the master dataset to catch and resolve discrepancies before publication by comparing new inputs to existing records and flagging conflicts for review
- Proactively maintain assigned locations on a defined 12/24-month review cycle to keep the dataset current without waiting on agent responses by scheduling and tracking planned refresh dates for each location
- Liaise with agents and clients where direct verification is required to confirm data accuracy at source by communicating clearly and following up until confirmation is received
- Maintain accurate, well-documented records within the PTB data system to support traceability and audit readiness by logging sources, dates, and changes for every update
- Analyze port cost and port performance information from documents and the ERP system to keep the Port Cost Calculator and performance metrics current by cross-checking cargo, vessel size, and terminal details against source data
- Verify alerts and trends/Matrix generated by the system for accuracy to ensure only correct insights are approved into the intelligence application by reviewing each flagged item against source documentation
- Update vessel port call and commodity flow information from AIS, agents, customs websites, and other open sources to keep market movement data current by capturing cargo, quantity, and stakeholder details for each call
- Prepare periodic reports for clients and internal stakeholders to support business decision-making by summarizing key trends and insights from the maintained datasets
- Collect and update shipping market news, trends, and key events from internal and external sources to keep stakeholders informed by monitoring relevant channels and publishing timely updates
