Manufacturing Test Automation Engineer

About This Role

Manufacturing Test Automation Engineer is responsible for optimizing Anduril's manufacturing test operations for quality, reliability, speed, and asset utilization, while meeting critical customer and internal development timelines. You will own the technical backbone of Manufacturing Test for Dive-XL, building the frameworks, GUIs, automation, and tester integrations that the production team uses for PCBA bring-up, bottle building, system check-out, and vehicle acceptance at FAT. This role involves hardware-meets-software work directly in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a production utility suite of tools, from requirements through architecture, GUI development, and deployment to the floor, including the manufacturing-line console and the vehicle-level test base
• Architect the test framework, including test runners, instrumentation drivers, data logging, traceability hooks, error-code library, and configuration management
• Standardize the toolchain to be NixOS-based, declarative, and reproducible, driving the move from mixed development environments to a single config-managed target
• Establish and maintain CI/CD for test code, ensuring test software ships through pipelines with proper review and version control
• Integrate test systems with Anduril's factory systems: MES (work instructions, routings, defect capture), Oracle ERP, and Teamcenter PLM, to ensure test results land in traceable systems rather than spreadsheets
• Ensure technician-facing usability through GUIs that lower the entry-skill bar, curated and version-controlled tests, clear pass/fail indicators, and helpful error codes
• Drive cross-site codebase convergence with other Anduril production sites, collaborating with the US team to create a shared framework, shared XL Utility code, and common error-code library
• Provide floor support, debugging test failures that are unclear whether they stem from the product, tester, or test code, and responding to unexpected GUI errors that halt builds

Requirements

• Degree in Software, Computer, Electrical, Mechatronic, or related engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience, including the ability to read a schematic and reason about test code
• Strong software fluency for test automation, with real experience building, maintaining, and debugging test frameworks (not just scripts), writing readable, maintainable, and shippable code
• Linux and command line as a primary environment, with comfort in system-level configuration, process management, and network debugging
• Hardware-software interface fluency, having written software that drives test instruments and hardware-under-test through interfaces like USB, Ethernet, RS232/RS485, CAN, I2C, SPI, GPIB, or equivalent
• Hands-on electronics troubleshooting experience, capable of using an oscilloscope, multimeter, or logic analyzer to isolate problems in the product, tester, or cabling
