About the role
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electromechanical medical devices within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for operating production equipment, ensuring product quality, maintaining documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to meet production and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, calibrate, and operate manufacturing equipment according to production schedules and quality standards.
• Assemble electromechanical subassemblies and finished products, including small precision components.
• Perform functional, electrical, and inspection testing using automated systems and test instruments.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and product-related issues and escalate complex concerns when necessary.
• Conduct electrical testing in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Support rework, repair, servicing, and refurbishment activities for nonconforming products.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment and document activities accurately.
• Maintain production and quality records, including Device History Records, to ensure traceability and compliance.
• Utilize electronic systems for production tracking, reporting, and data collection.
• Adhere to Quality Management System requirements, safety procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Support process validation, new product introduction activities, and continuous improvement projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
• Manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision while maintaining established deadlines.
• Collaborate effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Support audits, inspections, and cross-functional initiatives as required.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Zero to two years of manufacturing, production, or engineering technician experience.
• Experience with electromechanical assembly and testing.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to follow technical procedures, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience within a medical device, healthcare, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with cleanroom operations.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems.
• Knowledge of quality systems, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
