About the role
Arconic is currently in search of a Manufacturing Engineer Small Press to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving process improvements, product quality, and manufacturing excellence within the Aluminum Small Press operation. This position supports production operations by improving process capability, reducing variation, enhancing product performance, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and quality management system requirements.
- Provide daily technical support to production operations.
- Lead product capability studies and process control improvements to improve throughput and manufacturability of product.
- Engage technical counterparts at customers to discuss application needs and new material/product opportunities.
- Support new product and process qualifications.
- Lead investigations of customer complaints and nonconformances using 8D, 5 Why and Root Cause Analysis.
- Collaborate with commercial teams on reviewing new business opportunities and current business challenges.
- Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and Control Plan activities.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Support IATF 16949, AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.
- This position requires majority of time on a factory floor requiring PPE.

Basic Qualifications
- This position requires access to controlled technology as defined by applicable export regulations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience with electro-mechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorization from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools and IATF 16949.
- Experience with aluminum tube, extrusion, drawing, metal-forming, or press processes.
- Six Sigma or Lean certification.
