Manufacturing Engineer

About This Role

This engineering role contributes to the company's success by developing, improving, and optimizing processes and techniques used in manufacturing Image Intensifier (I2) tubes. The work focuses on increasing new image intensifier capabilities, manufacturing yield, and reducing variance, with an emphasis on improving component performance, implementing standard work, and developing optimized process recipes. Success is measured by timely process optimization and implementation, leading to cost savings, improved yield, and enhanced product performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced sustaining engineering support for Image Intensifier manufacturing processes
• Troubleshoot process and equipment-related issues in real time to minimize production impact
• Develop, implement, and maintain process controls to improve repeatability and reduce variation
• Analyze manufacturing, equipment, yield, and defect data to identify trends and drive corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement in throughput, cycle time, yield, and cost
• Support and lead material, consumable, tool, and process qualifications
• Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and supply chain to resolve complex manufacturing issues
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, work instructions, procedures, control plans, and technical reports
• Mentor less experienced engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel as needed
• Communicate technical issues, recommendations, and business impacts clearly to leadership and stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience

Nice to have:

• Experience using Six-Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing Principles
• Experience using DMAIC process and associated tools
• Experience with using statistical software (e.g. Minitab)
• Experience using SQL and Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with vacuum deposition of inorganic and metallic films, glass processing, chemical etching, materials analysis/characterization, and equipment design
• Experience with heat treatment and brazing of different metal alloys and glasses/ceramics

Important Details

• Schedule: 9/80 (employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, and have every other Friday off)
