Manufacturing Engineer

About This Role

This hands-on engineering position involves planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high-quality pultruded, molded, and assembled products. The Process Engineer coordinates all production efforts on new program launches, sets up and revises manufacturing processes, and assists manufacturing operations with problem-solving and continuous process improvement projects. This role also mentors and trains process setup technicians and factory maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities

• Develop new processes and implement technical solutions to existing processes designed to improve quality and overall equipment efficiency (OEE)
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians and other operations or maintenance personnel
• Develop and maintain process documentation to ensure that processes and procedures are clearly stated and understandable for all employees
• Provide daily technical support solutions to assorted manufacturing operations
• Start up, operate, and shut down process-related equipment
• Work independently on new process development, as well as troubleshoot current production issues
• Work with equipment and material vendors to resolve machine and material issues
• Monitor and report issues with tooling and equipment, making recommendations for refurbishment or replacement based on production factors such as cycles, process capability and tool/equipment history
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues
• Facilitate and support plant safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Engineering
• Practical work experience in a molding or pultrusion operation; extensive training in similar conversion processes or assembly may be considered
• Strong and diverse technical background in conversion processing, tooling, equipment, and materials is preferred
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal management direction
• Demonstrated good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Solid CAD experience and design capability with good business computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to lead others, including indirect supervision of process technicians
