About This Role
Working in a manufacturing facility approved by AS9100 and NADCAP, the Manual Welder performs manual and orbital TIG development and welding of rigid and flexible tube assemblies, brackets, and components, primarily for the aerospace industry. This role involves fabricating and finishing operations associated with these jobs, focusing on tube welding with various materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual and orbital TIG development and welding of rigid and flexible tube assemblies, brackets, and components, predominately for the aerospace industry
- Comply with AS9100 and NADCAP approved manufacturing facility standards
- Conduct fabrication or finishing operations associated with welding jobs
- Perform manual and orbital TIG welding of mainly tubes ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inch diameter, both thin wall and thick tubing
- Work with materials including, but not limited to, Stainless Steel, Inconel, Titanium, and Aluminium
- Work in partnership with manufacturing support functions to develop and then follow Data Cards, process specifications, Engineering Drawings, and Standard Work Instructions
- Work on new projects and insourcing projects or with manufacturing support functions to develop robust welding processes that can be trained into General Manual or Orbital welding
- Adhere daily to preventative maintenance, 5S standards and audits, and any other systems or procedures to maintain high aerospace standards of product integrity and lean manufacturing execution
- Use, maintain, and program orbital and manual TIG welding equipment
- Use measurement equipment such as shadowgraph, borescopes, Vernier, and micrometre for inspection and fabrication purposes
- Inspect own work, including but not limited to fit to fixture after welding, damage, and finally inspection welds as a qualified visual weld inspector
- Fabricate and finish welded assemblies, including preparing components to weld, ensuring they conform to a fixture or drawing, sizing, facing, polishing, linishing, cleaning, post weld polishing, cleaning, and packing
