We are seeking an accomplished modernization leader who combines deep technical expertise with executive-level strategic thinking. You will help guide large enterprises through complex transformation initiatives involving mainframe and IBM iSeries environments, cloud migration programs, application reengineering, and operating model evolution.

What You'll Lead
Modernization Strategy & Transformation Planning

• Assess complex application portfolios, identifying modernization opportunities, technical debt, operational risks, and business priorities.
• Develop comprehensive transformation roadmaps that align technology investments with long-term business objectives.
• Create modernization strategies for mainframe and IBM iSeries ecosystems, balancing innovation, risk management, and operational continuity.
• Evaluate modernization pathways including rehosting, re-platforming, refactoring, rearchitecting, and system replacement approaches.
• Define future-state architectures and migration frameworks that support scalability, resiliency, and business growth.

Cloud Architecture & Legacy Platform Transformation

• Lead the design of cloud-native architectures that replace or extend legacy environments.
• Architect migration strategies across leading cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and emerging enterprise cloud technologies.
• Define modernization approaches that improve performance, security, operational efficiency, and developer productivity.
• Guide organizations through infrastructure modernization, application decomposition, API enablement, and platform optimization initiatives.
• Establish technical blueprints that enable successful transformation execution while minimizing business disruption.

Program Leadership & Delivery Oversight

• Direct large-scale modernization initiatives from assessment through deployment and operational transition.
• Lead cross-functional teams consisting of architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and delivery partners.
• Monitor program progress, identify risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure modernization efforts remain aligned with business goals, compliance requirements, and operational expectations.
• Provide executive-level reporting and strategic guidance throughout transformation programs.

Technology Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, technology leaders, and transformation stakeholders.
• Translate complex technical challenges into practical business solutions.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, modernization workshops, and executive strategy sessions.
• Build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups while driving decision-making and organizational alignment.
• Partner with internal and external teams to ensure successful execution of modernization initiatives.

Operating Model & Organizational Change

• Develop strategies for organizational change management and operational readiness.
• Help organizations define future-state operating models that support modernized platforms.
• Establish service management frameworks, governance models, and operational best practices.
• Support workforce enablement initiatives that prepare teams for new technologies and processes.

What You Bring

• 16+ years of technology leadership experience with a strong focus on enterprise transformation and modernization.
• 10+ years leading complex cloud initiatives, large-scale modernization programs, or enterprise technology transformations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Extensive experience modernizing legacy application environments, including mainframe and/or IBM iSeries platforms.
• Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale modernization programs involving cloud migration and application transformation.
• Deep expertise across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and modern cloud architecture patterns.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native development, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and modern application design principles.
• Experience creating modernization business cases, transformation roadmaps, and executive-level technology strategies.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across complex technical and organizational environments.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Mainframe modernization frameworks and methodologies.
• IBM iSeries / AS400 modernization strategies.
• Cloud-native architecture and migration patterns.
• Containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Enterprise modernization platforms and tooling.
• Application refactoring, re-platforming, and API transformation.
• Infrastructure automation and DevOps practices.
• Modern programming languages, frameworks, and cloud development ecosystems.
