Manager/Senior Manager, Family Office

About This Role

This role is for a Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join the Private Enterprise Tax group and support the Family Office practice within KPMG's Tax practice in Calgary. It offers a significant opportunity to develop skills, work with new clients and industries, expand professional networks, and contribute to the growth of the practice. The position involves serving as a strategic advisor to high-net-worth families, collaborating with KPMG leaders and clients on tax planning and family legacy initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements and interact directly with clients, including leading regular status meetings with clients and families throughout the year
• Work closely with other members of the team as a senior team member on tax planning work for clients
• Help evaluate, assess, and anticipate the needs and interests of clients and their families, and recommend potential solutions and value-add services
• Advise on planning opportunities, tax minimization strategies, and compliance issues, as well as conduct and present tax research
• Review the work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness
• Provide ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of staff
• Build strong relationships with clients and the internal team that supports those clients

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience specializing in tax in a public accounting firm
• Professional Accounting Designation
• Excellent leadership and people management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to research and write utilizing electronic tax tools
• Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Natural curiosity and resourcefulness, with the ability to develop and execute new ideas pragmatically
• Solid aptitude for building trusting relationships with broad groups of stakeholders, prospects, and clients as well as diverse family members
• A strategic thinker with client-centric approaches, as well as deep commercial awareness and a collaborative team approach
• Passion for client service excellence
• Outstanding attention to detail

Nice to have:

• Completion of FEA (Family Enterprise Advisor) designation or similar is an asset
