As Manager in Retail Technology, you'll lead a Shanghai-based, cross-functional team spanning Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Operations, delivering within Apple Retail's China portfolio. This role operates within a global technology strategy while owning regional prioritization, execution, and team development - and requires a contributing manager who both leads a team and personally drives select delivery work streams, including navigating China's evolving data privacy and regulatory landscape.

You'll partner across Engineering, Legal/Privacy, in-region Retail leadership (Store Operations, REMM, Places), and global technology teams to translate regulatory requirements and business needs into actionable product and engineering scope. You'll lead through a customer-first lens, using insights and data to inform decision-making, track progress toward KPIs, and ensure alignment with Apple's broader strategies - fostering an environment where curiosity, inclusivity, and collaboration thrive.","responsibilities":"Lead and grow a cross-functional China team (Product, QA, Operations) - hiring, coaching, performance, and career development. Personally own and execute select product, QA, or operational workstreams alongside team management - a hands-on, player-coach role
Translate China's data privacy and regulatory requirements into actionable product/engineering scope, partnering with Legal/Privacy and Engineering
Drive regional quality - test automation, regression strategy, release readiness, and defect management standards. Drive operational efficiency, streamlining workflows and scaling field/store support.
Own the China roadmap and its execution against the global plan of record, negotiating scope with Engineering and global Product teams
Serve as primary liaison between the Shanghai team and global/APAC stakeholders, representing Retail Technology in geo-specific forums and reporting delivery health/risk to leadership

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on player-coach - both managing a team and personally executing IC-level work across Product, QA, and Operations disciplines. Strong quality assurance foundation, including test planning, regression strategy, and test automation frameworks/tooling
Experience in a regional or geo-lead capacity within a global product/tech organization, including navigating tension between global platform strategy and regional needs, delivering global enterprise-level mobile and web applications with a strong understanding of UX and interactive design principles
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization, and facilitate meetings across local and global stakeholders. Proven ability to bring clarity to ambiguity and lead without direct authority
Experience with subscriptions, services, customer personalization, payments processing and digital wallets in retail POS applications
Experience using Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA/Confluence) to manage backlogs, Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field

Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of dedicated Product Management, QA, or Operations experience delivering software and/or hardware experiences in a retail, e-commerce, regulated, or consumer organization, with a proven track record of owning and delivering roadmaps and features from ideation through launch and ongoing support (problem framing, success criteria, requirements documentation, backlog management, test strategy/execution, delivery, and ongoing health management)
3+ years direct people management experience leading product managers, business analysts, and/or quality assurance teams, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale technology initiatives. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally across multiple timezones
Direct experience navigating China's data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance landscape, including translating evolving legal/regulatory requirements into actionable product and engineering scope
Fluent in Mandarin and English, experience with Apple hardware and operating systems
