About the role
Purpose/Objective
The Scada Monitoring Engineer is responsible for the real-time monitoring of wind turbine operations using SCADA systems, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted performance.
This role involves tracking key operational metrics, responding to system alarms, and documenting incidents according to established protocols.
The Engineer performs initial troubleshooting using diagnostic tools to identify basic faults and supports engineers in conducting deeper analyses.
This role also includes routine maintenance tasks such as recalibrating sensors, performing system health checks, and updating SCADA configurations.
The Scada Monitoring Engineer ensures compliance with cybersecurity protocols and safety standards, maintaining accurate records of all monitoring activities.
Additionally, this position supports continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on SCADA system performance and suggesting optimizations to enhance monitoring effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities of Role
Real-Time Monitoring of Turbine Operations - Monitor turbine operations in real-time using SCADA systems, tracking performance metrics such as power output, rotor speed, and grid connection status.
- Identify and report deviations from normal operating parameters, coordinating with the SCADA lead for further analysis and corrective actions.
Alarm Response and Incident Reporting - Respond to alarms generated by the SCADA system, following predefined protocols to assess, document, and escalate incidents as necessary. - Maintain accurate records of incidents, actions taken, and outcomes to support continuous improvement and compliance reporting.
Data Logging and Analysis - Perform data logging and initial analysis of turbine performance data, identifying patterns that may indicate emerging issues or optimization opportunities. - Support detailed analysis by preparing data sets and reports for use by engineering teams in root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
System Health Checks and Maintenance Support - Conduct regular system health checks to ensure all SCADA components are functioning correctly, including sensors, communication links, and control interfaces. - Assist in basic maintenance tasks such as resetting alarms, recalibrating sensors, and updating software as directed by the SCADA lead.
Cybersecurity Compliance and Data Integrity - Adhere to cybersecurity protocols within the SCADA environment, ensuring data security and integrity are maintained at all times. - Report any suspicious activity or security breaches to the SCADA lead, supporting efforts to safeguard system operations.
Compliance with Operating Procedures - Follow all standard operating procedures for SCADA monitoring, including guidelines for alarm management, data handling, and communication with other departments. - Participate in regular audits and training sessions to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Support for Troubleshooting Activities - Assist in troubleshooting activities, providing real-time data and observations to support root cause analysis conducted by SCADA engineers. - Document findings and recommendations from troubleshooting activities to contribute to the development of improved response protocols.
Team Collaboration and Communication - Work closely with SCADA and operations teams to ensure coordinated responses to system events, sharing information and insights as needed. - Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including engineers, technicians, and management, to ensure smooth SCADA operations.
