About the role

Duties
Provides advice and acts as the expert for incident related business problems/issues. Develops state-wide plans to support efforts to reduce fire management costs. Point of Contact for providing guidance on all aspects of fire, fuels, and aviation program related to budgeting and financial management. Provides budget oversight for the Fire Preparedness and Suppression, Severity, Fuels, Trespass, and Mitigation Programs.

Qualifications

Time-in-grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade level (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

Specialized Experience for the GS-11 is described as:

Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level that demonstrated the incumbent's knowledge of the principles, theories and techniques of incident business management for fire and all hazard incidents and skills in gathering and analysis of budget (FBMS). -OR- EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related; -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: Total qualifying education as described above and experience as listed above are combined together and when combined must total to equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Only graduate level education may be combined with experience.

Specialized Experience for the GS-12 is described as:

Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level that demonstrated the incumbent's knowledge of the principles, theories and techniques of incident business management for fire and all hazard incidents and skills in gathering and analysis of budget (FBMS). NOTE: There is no substitution of education at this grade level.
