Directing and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment is the essential purpose of this Maintenance Supervisor position. This role also involves maintaining buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the plant, either personally or through employees.
Responsibilities
Review job orders to determine work priorities
Schedule repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations
Coordinate activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products
Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations
Develop preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff
Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards
Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials
Review new product plans and discuss equipment needs and modifications with design engineers
Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations
Direct training and indoctrination of workers to improve performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures
Confer with management, engineering, production, and quality assurance personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment
Directly supervise 3-25 employees in the maintenance section
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Interview, hire, and train employees
Plan, assign, and direct work

Address complaints and resolve problems
Requirements
Associate's degree or equivalent and eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical school is desirable
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance or technical instruction, procedure manuals, and government regulations
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
