About the role

Duties

Works along with other workers, setting the pace performing non-supervisory work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led.

Air Conditioning: Work involves installing, recognizing the cause of faulty equipment and making repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating in comparison with repair work on the equipment.

Electrical/Plumbing: As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Replaces ceiling light and/or burned out bulbs. Repairs faucets, resets toilets, and lavatories. Performs other easily accomplished repairs assists with electrical troubleshooting for a variety of control and operational circuits and systems.

Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics and mechanical techniques to plan and maintain work. Ability to set-up, adjust and adapt hand and power tools to accomplish necessary tasks. Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment used. Must be skilled in use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades to perform a variety of tasks. Must have knowledge of mechanical techniques. Must have ability to read and follow basic blueprints and sketches. Must have skill in manipulating controls of a motor vehicle.

The worker makes repairs and installations from floor level, ground level, and from ladders. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling for extended periods in uncomfortable positions, and extensive overhead arm movement. Worker may lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and, occasionally heavier items with assistance.

Qualifications

Work experience directly related to the duties and skills described above. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision. Ability to lead employees engaged in technical work related to this position.
