Maintenance Helper – JLL 3rd Shift What this job involves: As a Maintenance Helper at JLL, you will provide essential support to maintenance and grounds personnel in maintaining large-scale manufacturing facilities in safe, attractive, and fully operational condition. This hands-on role focuses on assisting with repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance of various facility-related systems and components. You'll work in a dynamic manufacturing environment where your mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic will be essential to supporting facility operations and ensuring a safe, healthy workplace. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Assist maintenance and grounds personnel in repair and/or installation of facility-related items, systems, and components including windows, roofs, building structures, floors, hand rails, stairs, lighting systems, HVAC units, electrical service, and plumbing/sewer systems
  • Perform assigned painting tasks and facility/grounds-related functions to maintain facilities in an attractive, healthy, and safe condition
  • Install system component parts, classroom and office equipment, and facility components to maintain facilities in safe, comfortable, and operating condition
  • Clean and perform minor repairs of gutters, drains, and scuppers to ensure proper operation and adequate drainage
  • Safely operate and maintain shop tools, powered vehicular equipment (burden carriers, fork trucks, aerial lifts), and facility equipment ensuring availability in safe operating condition
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and support maintenance team operations

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 2-3 years of related work experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability and desire to learn maintenance trades and technical skills
  • Ability to obtain certification to operate powered vehicular equipment such as burden carriers, fork trucks, aerial lifts, and other specialized equipment
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk on level and slippery surfaces, reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements in performance of daily duties
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 49 pounds or more
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including wet, hot, and cold environments, and tolerance for exposure to fumes, airborne particles, mechanical and electrical hazards
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and pre/post scheduled hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial, or large-scale facility maintenance environments
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems (120/240/480), plumbing/sewer systems, or metal fabrication
  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, or burden carriers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow complex instructions
  • Experience working in diverse manufacturing work environments with ability to use prudent judgment at all times
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, OSHA standards, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Strong teamwork skills with ability to assist and support skilled tradespeople effectively

Union Affiliation: This is a union position represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW). Compensation and benefits are determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
