Temporary Maintenance Assistant – Full-Time (90-Day Assignment)
Oakwood Gardens Care Center is seeking a dependable and hardworking Temporary Maintenance Assistant for a 90-day assignment. This position is ideal for someone experienced in facility maintenance who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Position Overview
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping maintain the facility grounds, equipment, and building systems in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs
- Maintain facility grounds, parking lots, and outdoor areas through cleaning, trimming, and upkeep
- Replace light bulbs, clean windows/screens, and complete general maintenance tasks
- Assist with servicing heating and cooling systems as directed
- Coordinate maintenance work with nursing staff when working in resident care areas
- Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions promptly
- Ensure maintenance supplies are stocked and equipment is properly stored after use
- Follow all safety precautions and facility procedures when using tools and equipment
- Assist with emergency situations and evacuation procedures if needed
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and comply with HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications
- Minimum 10th grade education required
- Previous maintenance or facility experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed
Work Environment
- Skilled nursing facility setting
- Low to moderate noise level
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with staff and residents
