Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI Tech) - PRN

About This Role

This PRN (as needed) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI Tech) position involves performing MRI examinations under the direction of a radiologist, requiring independent judgment, technical skills, and a commitment to patient safety. The role is suited for a mission-driven individual who can perform a variety of technical imaging studies and interact effectively with patients and medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform Cardiac MRI protocols, including for infarction, valve disease, and structural abnormalities
• Perform Breast MRI Biopsies
• Assist in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on medical supplies utilized during general radiographic examinations
• Effectively interact with Denver Health’s PACS system through compliance with data entry, image post-processing, image archiving tasks, image quality assurance, and other related user interface activities
• Prepare and administer contrast media for patient examinations according to radiologists’ direction, ensuring appropriate IV catheter type, size, and location, and testing the injector with saline prior to contrast injection
• Screen patients, Denver Health employees, and visitors to ensure safety within the MRI service venue, reviewing the MRI Screening Form with patients and verifying no contraindications exist before entry into the scanning room
• Verify physician orders and relevant patient history in Epic, consulting with the relevant radiologist to obtain a written imaging study protocol prior to performing an MRI examination
• Scan all relevant clinical information into the PACS, assign prioritization for the radiologists’ worklist, and transmit current and comparison images to the PACS to provide necessary data for interpretation
• Notate within appropriate electronic/hardcopy documents all pertinent patient information to comply with patient screening, ordering, charting, and medical record requirements
• Maintain imaging equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests, documenting results, and contacting service personnel and notifying supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions
• Assist in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on medical supplies utilized during MRI examinations
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines, including the use of two patient identifiers
• Transport patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, to prevent patient flow delays

Requirements

• Associate's Degree
• 1-3 years of professional work experience in performing radiographic procedures, including 2 years of experience in undertaking MRI imaging studies
• BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
