LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Dermatology

About This Role

This role provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient, and their family in an outpatient clinic setting, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions. The Clinic Nurse ensures continuity and quality of care by following up on diagnostic testing and maintaining a clean environment. This position is suitable for both new and experienced Licensed Practical Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provide basic medical database for the provider
• Prepare patient for examinations
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider
• Assist the provider in performance of minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations to facilitate accurate diagnosis
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency
• Execute and document ongoing patient communication, as directed by the provider
• Prioritize communication to the provider, respond to patient questions and requests to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patient needs
• Administer medications and vaccines including intradermal and skin testing under the direction of a provider and per scope of practice
• Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases
• Ensure required levels of asepsis, availability of appropriate instruments and equipment, and preparation of the patient

Requirements

• Graduate from Specialty Training
• Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in a specific age range on their assigned clinical area
