LPN - Assisted Living

About This Role

Working with older adults in an assisted living and memory care setting is the core of this Licensed Practical Nurse role. It involves administering medications and treatments, documenting care, and responding to emergencies. The position suits a caring individual who enjoys interacting with seniors and wants to build a career in senior services.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications
• Administer treatments, including dressings, catheterization, suctioning, and oxygen
• Assist in direct resident care as necessary
• Maintain accurate documentation of medication administered and care rendered
• Assist in admission and discharge procedures
• Respond to resident emergency call system as indicated
• Make rounds with physicians and transcribe orders
• Keep physician and family aware of changes in resident's condition
• Maintain the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each patient
• Assure continuity of services and care
• Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
• Perform specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• Valid Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida
• 6 months nursing experience; geriatric experience is preferred
• Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression
• Can pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

Important Details

• Schedule: part-time shifts available, 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am, and weekends

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting
• Must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day
• Must be able to lift, transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs.
• May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
• May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses
