Loss Prevention Officer

About This Role

Protecting the community by preventing theft and creating a safer environment is the core purpose of this Loss Prevention Officer role. It suits an officer who is committed to working undercover in retail settings to deter and address shoplifting.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons, and customers
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, discreetly blending in with shoppers
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage
• Confront individuals suspected of theft who have unpaid merchandise
• Escort trespassers out of the client premises
• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations
• Escalate situations to law enforcement as required
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner

Requirements

• A valid Security License (BST)
• Advanced Security Training (AST) is a requirement
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifters
• Previous security experience in a retail environment
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills
• Ability to work without close supervision
