Loss Prevention Officer

About This Role

Working to prevent theft and monitor suspicious activity, the Loss Prevention Officer protects store assets and responds to security incidents while maintaining a professional approach. This role is for an observant individual who can uphold high standards of safety and integrity in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor customers and store activity for suspicious behavior
• Conduct floor patrols and observe high-risk areas
• Assist with theft prevention and loss prevention investigations
• Monitor CCTV cameras when required
• Identify and document incidents of theft or suspicious activity
• Approach and deal with incidents according to company policies and legal requirements
• Complete detailed incident and activity reports
• Work closely with store management and security supervisors
• Contact police or other authorities when required
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused presence
• Perform other site-specific security duties as assigned

Requirements

• Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or loss prevention roles is highly desirable
• Valid BC Security Worker License / BST required
• Strong knowledge of surveillance techniques and CCTV system operation
• Familiarity with loss prevention practices and procedures to identify theft or fraudulent activities
• Ability to remain alert and vigilant during long shifts while maintaining professionalism under pressure
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with law enforcement, staff, and management effectively
