About the role

Duties

Logistics Management Specialist, GS-0346-07 is to serve in a developmental capacity performing assignments designed to orient the employee in the application, basic practices and principles in the Logistics Readiness Squadron. Upon completion of developmental training that is evidenced by successful performance, and upon meeting regulatory requirements, the employee may be noncompetitively promoted to the target position of GS-09. Incumbent of this position will accomplish training to perform for full performance duties listed in the GS-346-09 below with guidance and supervisory oversight through the following:

  • Performs developmental work assignments.
  • Performs recurring work assignments.
  • Participates in special studies and projects.
  • Prepares written correspondence and other documentation.

Logistics Management Specialist, GS-0346-09 is to assist in the technical development and maintenance of the wing's readiness/deployment program and to train reservists in the tasks of this position. Incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:

  • Provide direction, development and maintenance of the wings deployment program.
  • Plan for and evaluates logistics readiness.
  • Assist in maintaining the wing’s War Readiness Materiel (WRM) program.
  • Assist with and monitors a variety of unit readiness assessment activities such as operational readiness inspections (ORI), operational readiness exercises (ORE), and other command and local exercises.
  • Present briefings and participates in meetings or serves on panels and committees.
  • As a team member, evaluates assigned categories of support services for inter- and intra-service support agreements, submitting final report through management to the Joint Interservice Regional Support Group (JIRSG) chairperson.

Qualifications

For the GS-07: You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service that has given you particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Typically we would find this experience in work within this field which includes providing assistance in planning, coordinating, and evaluating a logistics management program. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).
(1) Knowledge of basic principles of logistics plans for mobility, deployment, contingency and related readiness programs.
(2) Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing.
(3) Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions.
(4) Ability to learn basic techniques in logistics plans for mobility, deployment, contingency and related readiness programs.

For the GS-09: You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that has given you particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Typically we would find this experience in work within this field which includes planning, coordinating, and evaluating a logistics management program. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).

Substitution of Education for Experience: For the GS-07: Successfully completed one (1) full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement in Logistics Management, History, Public Administration, any Science degree, Mathematics, Business. For the GS-09: Master’s Degree or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., in a relevant field of study (e.g., Logistics Management, History, Public Administration, any Science degree, Mathematics, Business). Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: If you are qualifying based on education, you must submit legible copies of your college transcripts identifying Institution name and location, type of degree awarded and date conferred is required.
