About the role

Duties

As a Logistics Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Represents the customer to the DLA Enterprise regarding overall weapon system and/or commodity product line support, functioning as a project manager on weapons system support readiness and/or commodity logistics operational customer support initiatives and programs.
  • Ensures effective demand planning for assigned weapon systems or commodity product lines.
  • Provides logistical expertise for assigned weapon system platforms to US military activities and US civil agencies.
  • Resolves high priority logistics, supply, distribution, information, or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with DLA activities.
  • Monitors DLA impact on weapon system readiness and commodity product lines, and analyzes supply degraders to identify problems and solutions in order to restore acceptable levels of support.

ABOUT THE POSITION:  This is an Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (AT&L) Workforce Position in the Life Cycle Logistics Career Field.  The incumbent will be required to become certified at Level III in the applicable career field within 24 months, unless a Position Requirements Waiver is approved to extend the 24 months.  AT&L position requirements will be used in the evaluation criteria.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) or competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.  Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Providing logistics support, planning, and scheduling to customers.
  • Conducting a variety of logistics planning and supply chain support functions, such as supply management, material management, order fulfillment, storage and distribution, acquisition, procurement, demand planning, transportation, etc.
  • Managing life cycles logistics in support of industrial overhaul, repair, or maintenance facilities.
  • Performing forecasting and planning to improve weapons systems supportability and sustainability.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of logistics, supply and distribution policies, procedures and regulations
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Logistics support concepts
  • Ability to perform Project Management
  • Skill in providing customer support
  • Ability to conduct long-range planning
