About the role

Description

This is a contract, on-site position offering an exciting opportunity for an Associate-level physician to deliver high-quality ophthalmologic care in a collaborative clinical environment.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive eye care to patients, supporting the diagnosis and management of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. You will work alongside experienced healthcare professionals and contribute to the practice’s commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuity of treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations, including patient history, visual acuity, refraction, slit-lamp examination, and intraocular pressure measurement.
  • Diagnose and manage eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other ocular disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient needs, and evidence-based ophthalmology practices.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications, therapies, and interventions within the scope of practice and contract privileges.
  • Perform and document in-office ophthalmic procedures as appropriate to an Associate-level clinician.
  • Provide clear patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, preventive eye care, and follow-up instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records using the practice’s electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with technicians, optometrists, physicians, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Adhere to all clinical, safety, privacy, and regulatory standards, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Support the efficient delivery of ophthalmology services during the contract assignment and adapt quickly to on-site workflows and protocols.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license for practicing medicine in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Specialty training or clinical experience in Ophthalmology.
  • Associate-level experience in an ophthalmology or medical practice setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of ocular anatomy, diseases, diagnostic techniques, and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent patient communication, interpersonal, and bedside manner skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in Danville and adapt to a dynamic contract-based healthcare environment.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills for managing patient care efficiently.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation and standard ophthalmic equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary medical team.
  • Commitment to continuing medical education (CME), licensure requirements, and professional standards.
  • Preferred: Board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7a-5p

Rotating call shifts

Shifts available at multiple facilities

Daily Volume: 25 clinic patients or 4-6 surgeries

Procedures required

Diverse ophthalmologic caseload

Will supervise residents and APPs

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

BLS required
