Locksmith

About This Role

This locksmith position is responsible for general facility, building, and equipment maintenance and repair, including both scheduled and unscheduled tasks. The role involves completing work orders, performing preventative maintenance, identifying and resolving problems, determining required materials, and documenting activities using the Computer Maintenance Management System.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic II classification
• Install, test, diagnose, maintain, repair, and replace locks, locking systems, doors, door hardware, and door closure and locking devices on all types of doors and equipment
• Pin lock tumblers, key, and use hand and power tools associated with the locksmith's trade, maintaining them in good working order
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned and assist any higher departmental job classification as assigned
• Document work activity, both by written means and electronically, using the Computer Maintenance Management System per departmental guidelines
• Determine appropriate materials, supplies, and equipment for completion of tasks, either by securing from stock or by requesting per departmental guidelines
• Perform duties as required or assigned by Call Center and/or Facilities and Maintenance Management
• Read and interpret written specifications, work orders, written and oral instructions, models, and graphic illustrations such as lay-out diagrams, blueprints, work sketches
• Mentor newly assigned employees

Requirements

• Associate's Degree preferred
• 3-5 years in maintenance field
• Documented training in and working knowledge of locks, latchets, doors, door hardware, etc.
• Certificate of Locksmithing from an accredited institution
