About This Role
This litigation paralegal role supports a law firm's litigation team, assisting with the discovery process and managing court documents. It suits an energetic, organized, and detail-oriented individual with excellent writing skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under deadline.
Responsibilities
- Prepare drafts of, file, and serve pleadings and other court documents in litigation
- Manage pleadings and other documents filed by opposing counsel and other parties in litigation
- Prepare drafts of and coordinate discovery requests and responses, including through use of e-discovery software
- Gather and summarize medical, employment, and other records obtained through discovery
- Schedule depositions, mediations, expert witness testimony, etc.
- Conduct initial client and witness interviews and prepare summaries of pertinent facts obtained
- Keep managing attorney(s) informed of all developments and actions taken in a case
- Manage and coordinate schedule and deadlines for all cases assigned to managing attorney
- Maintain positive relations with clients through regular communication
- Proofread documents and letters
- Proofread and cite check briefs for conformance with applicable law and cite form
Requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot and create solutions to solve problems using the tools available
- High level of knowledge regarding key legal concepts
- Demonstrated superior customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced/dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Computer experience should include knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Nice to have:
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Paralegal Studies (or related field) or a Paralegal Certificate
- 3 or more years of experience in litigation
