Litigation Paralegal

About This Role

This litigation paralegal role involves supporting attorneys in a fast-paced law firm by drafting legal documents, managing deadlines, and conducting legal research. The position suits an experienced paralegal who is detail-oriented and client-focused, and who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions, and orders (ranging from simple to complex)
• Draft notices such as notices of deposition, notices of appearance, and subpoenas for appearance at deposition or trial or for documents
• Schedule and maintain depositions and court-imposed deadlines
• Perform in-depth legal research, retrieving cases or public record information using Westlaw and internet research to locate applicable cases, statutes, court rules, and regulations on specific legal issues
• File pleadings, including ECF
• Assist attorneys with discovery requests
• Assist attorneys with trial preparation
• Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys or the Director of Practice Support

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of paralegal experience
• Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience capturing and recording billable time
• High degree of detail and client focus
• Experience reviewing and summarizing records
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team
• Drive and personal initiative
