Litigation Associate - Insurance Defense
Location: New Haven, CT | Full-Time | In-Person Compensation: Commensurate with Experience
About The Opportunity Our client is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2+ years of experience to join its growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense , particularly in general liability, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, and/or personal injury.
This role offers meaningful responsibility, collaboration with experienced attorneys, and opportunities to further develop litigation and trial skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence.
- Handle discovery and assist with depositions, hearings, negotiations, and trial preparation.
- Represent clients in court proceedings and settlement negotiations.
- Develop case strategy and collaborate with senior attorneys.
- Maintain organized case files and meet litigation deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active state bar admission required.
- 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case-management skills.
- Discovery experience required.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Trial experience is a plus.
