About the role
Job Summary:
We're happy to be hiring a sharp, trustworthy Engagement Specialist to look after inbound conversations across LinkedIn and Substack. You'll work through a daily queue of direct messages and comments, replying from an established library of prepared messaging, and picking out which conversations show real buying interest. This is a role for someone with excellent written English and strong reading comprehension — you're not running campaigns or building strategy, you're handling real conversations with care, judgment, and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work through a daily queue of LinkedIn direct messages and comments, replying promptly and appropriately
- Look after Substack comments and reader replies, keeping engagement active and professional
- Pick the correct prepared response for each situation from an existing message library
- Read every conversation carefully before replying, seeing that the response actually fits what the person said
- Pick out and flag conversations where someone shows genuine interest, rather than carrying on with a templated reply
- Hold a consistent voice and tone across every account you look after, writing in that account's established style
- Escalate unusual, sensitive, or high-value conversations instead of guessing
- Keep the daily queue cleared and current so no message goes unanswered
- Handle confidential account access and private conversations with complete discretion
Mandatory Skills:
- Excellent written English — native or near-native fluency, with flawless grammar, tone control, and natural phrasing
- Strong reading comprehension and the capacity to grasp context before replying
- Sound judgment and common sense in picking the right response for the situation
- Absolute discretion and professionalism around account access and private conversations
- At ease moving through LinkedIn and Substack messaging and comment interfaces
- Dependable, precise, and able to work on your own initiative
- Strong communication skills and responsiveness through the workday
- Stable, high-speed internet connection and a steady, distraction-free work setup
Preferred Skills:
- Earlier time looking after social media inboxes, DMs, or community engagement for someone else
- Familiarity with LinkedIn as a professional networking and business development platform
- Time spent on lead qualification or picking out buying signals in written conversations
- Grounding in customer support, sales support, or copywriting
- Time spent writing in another person's voice or holding brand tone guidelines
- Capacity to stay focused and accurate across repetitive, high-volume tasks
