About This Role
This Lineman position is within the Public Works Department, focusing primarily on the maintenance and repair of the City's electric system, including power plant operations. The role also involves general city crew duties, maintaining the values and integrity of the City of St. Francis, and providing necessary services to the community.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair the City's electric system, including operation of the power plant
- Perform operations and maintenance of the water system, wastewater system, streets, and parks as needed
- Assist in the construction, installation, repairs, and/or maintenance of the water system, including water lines, mains, valves, fire hydrants, meters, meter enclosures, taps, and all equipment necessary to disperse water
- Maintain departmental records and reports
- Schedule and perform maintenance and operations of departmental equipment
- Establish and maintain inventory control over departmental equipment, tools, and supplies
- Purchase departmental equipment and supplies with Superintendent approval
- Follow safety procedures and practices
- Perform snow removal and plowing
- Assist and coordinate with other departments as needed
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
- Maintain the municipal pool
- Run locates for utility companies, contractors, and builders as required by state law
- Install and maintain seasonal lighting
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience
- Valid CDL or the ability to obtain one
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds of weight
- Ability to push, pull, reach, twist, kneel, balance, stand, stoop, squat, bend, walk, paint, load, unload, grip, hold, climb, sweep, and spend lengthy time on their feet
- Available as necessary for scheduled call time
- Available as necessary for emergent situations, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
