Lineman

About This Role

Working alongside experienced linemen, the Lineman 1 or 2 assists with the safe installation and maintenance of fiber and telecom lines. The role ensures efficient and reliable service and helps keep everyone connected.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of fiber and telecom cables overhead, and promptly repair any issues to ensure efficient and reliable service
• Safely use equipment like bucket truck, digger derrick, excavators
• Safely use hand tools and power tools like wrenches, drills, and saws
• Maintain safe work areas so that traffic flows smoothly while on the job
• Safely work at heights using climbing hooks and ladders
• Be ready to travel for storm response on short notice
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Knowledge or experience working on telecom lines either on or off the pole (Aerial)
• Understanding how the poles connect
• Experience with lashers and overlash equipment
• Proper placement in communications space
• Strand preparation and tensioning requirements
• Expansion loops and slack storage methods
• Operating heavy machinery (Digger Derrick, Auger Crane, Pole Truck or Excavator)
• Valid Driver's License
• Comfortable working with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climbing stairs, using a ladder, bending, stooping, standing, walking and lifting up to 55 pounds, operating a vehicle and heavy machinery

Nice to have:

• CDL
• Telecom background
• Experience with fiber, OSP, Aerial Fiber
• Level 1 Pole school

Important Details

• Schedule: 6:30am - 3:30pm, overtime available
• Worksites: all near Duncansville, no travel
